Houston, TX – November 25, 2025 – A 27-year-old driver was killed early Monday morning when his Chevrolet Tahoe rolled over on the northbound lanes of the East Freeway (I-10) near Lauder Road, according to the Houston Police Department Vehicular Crimes Division.
The crash occurred around 1:00 a.m. on November 24, 2025. Investigators say the Tahoe was traveling in the center lane when the driver lost control, veered off the roadway to the left, and struck a concrete barrier. The impact caused the SUV to roll at least once.
The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected through the driver’s-side window and was pronounced dead at the scene. Five passengers, including a 15-year-old juvenile female, suffered minor injuries. Only the teenager required hospital treatment. All surviving occupants were wearing seatbelts.
Houston Police Sgt. D. Bondurant stated that investigators located evidence of alcohol inside the vehicle and believe intoxication played a role in the crash. No charges have been filed at this time, but the investigation remains active.
“Seatbelts saved the lives of everyone else in that vehicle,” Sgt. Bondurant said. “The driver would likely still be alive today if he had been wearing his.”
The northbound lanes of I-10 were shut down for approximately four hours while officers processed the scene. All lanes reopened around 5:00 a.m.
